(Adopted March 30/09)
Spirit
Toy Poodle
Male/neutered/shots current
18 months old
5 lbs

Spirit is just as his name, he is a very spirited lil fellow.  He can leap in true poodle fashion onto couches or beds, no height seems to bother him.  He is loving, sweet and devoted.  He would love to have a friend to play with, but he can get a little jealous from time to time...a tap on the nose stops his behavior.  He will follow you everywhere, and doesn't seem to have fear of anyone, he will cuddle in any lap/shoulder available.

He is a happy lil boy, who thrives on attention.  He does need work on housetraining.

He is a gem, if you love poodles, do not hesitate on applying for this gorgeous lil fellow.

Now has a wonderful home residing with Cloud in Ocean Shores, WA

(Adopted March 30/09)
Cloud
Bichon/Maltese
Male/neutered/shots current
6 months old
5 lbs

Cloud is all puppy, curious, playful, inquisitive, happy, loves everyone.  Loves to sleep cuddled in your neck if he can, or nestled in your legs.  He is learning what toys are, and chews, happily prances through the house, would love to have a friend, and probably would do better if he had a companion buddy, of similar size.  He gets upset if he cannot be wherever you are...he is a delightful lil boy, and will be an awesome lil fellow to the right home.

My guess is he will only be a couple of lbs bigger when all grown up.  This was absolutely his very first groom, and it was overwhelming to him, so he will need someone to brush and show him the world of grooming is not be frightened of.

Fabulous home with Spirit, residing in Ocean Shores, WA

(Adopted April 4/09)
Oscar "de la Renta"
mini Dachshund
Male/neutered/shots current
17 lbs (chubby pounds)
3 yrs old

This beautiful dark red boy is a total love. He gives his full loyalty to his person. He walks well on a leash; is house trained; loves car rides and sits up to beg for pets. Oscar loves to cuddle on the couch or under the bedcovers with you. He likes other dogs his own size and especially loves other doxies.
He was rescued from a shelter in CA and brought to the NW in hopes of finding a forever home. Oscar chooses one person in the family to be his person and only tolerates other family members. Like many doxies he can be protective of his home. Oscar would love to come be your best boy.

Oscar has wonderful parents who adore doxies, residing in Hansville, WA

(Adopted April 9/09)
Mikey
Bichon/Poodle
Male/neutered/shots current
12-18 months

Mikey is a doll, he is VERY playful boy, he will entice/encourage/bug other dogs to play with him, presently he is being fostered with Katie (below) and the two of them tear through the house bounding in glee.  It is in Mikey's best interest to be rehomed with another playful spirited dog, and he is not worried about breed, but perhaps similar in size.

He appears to do well with men, women and older teenagers...cats unknown, but since he loves to play and chase, he probably will chase them.

Great home for this stubborn boy:-) residing in Seattle, WA

(Adopted April 25/09)
Matthew (Matt)
Cavalier King Charles Spaniel X
Male/neutered/shots current
8 months old
14 lbs

Matt is sweetheart, as cute as a button and as active as they come for an eight month old puppy.  He dashes through the house and has the ability to jump small buildings in a single bound.  He is a happy, friendly little guy who loves running in the yard and cuddling up next to you.  Matt loves to play with toys, run after the ball and will stand on his back two feet dancing around waiting for you to throw him his squeaky toys.  He loves to chase the birds and squirrels in the yard and then when he is done playing he just finds a quiet place and lays down and sleeps till the next round.

Matt lost his mom to an automobile accident.  He was taken in by some family members but they could not keep him as they already had too many dogs.  So he went to a foster home in Blaine.  He is crate trained and his foster mom is working on the potty training.  He says to tell you he is smart and learns quickly.  Matt needs an active family and a big fenced in yard.  He would do well with another active young dog.  He seems to love women but can be a bit shy around men. Matt is loving, gentle and will be a joy to any family lucky enough to welcome him into their home.

Matt has a super new Mom and Dad, happily residing in Ferndale, WA

(Adopted May 10/09)
Brutus
Cairn Terrier X
Male/neutered/shots current
5 years old
19 lbs

Brutus is a sweet boy who loves everyone he meets especially if they can be persuaded to give him a tummy rub. He loves to ride in the car, go for walks and follow his person everywhere. He runs outside to go potty but is only willing to stay out if you want help with the gardening. He is a great boy.

Brutus has spent most of his life as a stud dog for a backyard breeder. For the last year or so he was lucky enough to be able to live with an employee in her house where he learned what it was to be cared for and pampered. Brutus came into rescue as the breeder is closing out many of his dogs and his employee can no longer keep him. He has some food allergies which can be easily controlled with good food. He is house trained and makes friends wherever he goes. It is Brutus' turn to be pampered and the center of attention so he will not be placed in house with young children. If you are looking for a wonderful loving companion, look no further he is right here.

Brutus's new Dad, felt like he hit the jackpot, getting the perfect dog, very happily residing in Bellingham, WA

(Adopted May/09)
TJ
Chihuahua/Pomeranian
8 weeks old
male

TJ came to us in the nick of time.  He was dumped at our local shelter by a backyard breeder who tossed him out due to a medical condition.  Clearly they could not make money off of him and therefore he was not worth their time or energy to save. TJ was diagnosed with Meningitis, a common genetic medical condition in Chihuahuas.  He came to Furbaby Rescue since we were his best chance of treatment. Without treatment, he would of died. We are happy to say he is doing great!  He is close to symptom free, running, playing, wrestling and sleeping well.  To meet him now you would not know he had a medical condition.  Vet says he may have an issue as he gets older and he may need medication, but for now he is doing great and should lead a normal life.

TJ needs a loving home with small dog experience.  He has mandatory puppy socialization classes in your area a required for his adoption. TJ is in a foster home with big dogs, small dogs, cat and birds... he is a very social lil man now!

Its up to us to stop backyard breeders and puppy mills.  If they can't sell them and make money they won't breed them. How can you help?

Remember,  never buy a dog from a  puppy mill or a backyard breeder.  But how do you know that is what you are dealing with?  Here's how: Never buy from a pet store or from an add in the newspaper, on Craigslist or in the Echo type papers.  Quality breeders NEVER advertise their dogs,  they have  waiting lists of potential homes and never go "looking" for homes.  Backyard breeders and Puppy Mills are the only one who advertise.  If you buy one of those dogs  you're supporting the puppy mill industry.  We can make a difference- we have the power.

Always adopt from a rescue group or shelter!
TJ has a home dedicated to take care of any medical needs that this boy may have, happily residing in Bellingham, WA

(Adopted May 16/09)
Triscuit
Chihuahua/Italian Greyhound ?
Female/spayed/shots current
3 years old
12 lbs/11 "tall

Triscuit is a momma’s girl. She is a very loving girl who just wants to be with her person. Her ideal home would be one where she could be with her mamma at all times but she does really like her doggy biscuits so if she had to be left for work that would be OK,  as long as you are willing to come home and let this little girl worship you.

Triscuit is a lucky dog who was pulled from a high kill shelter in California by a local rescue. Triscuit came to Furbaby because she was afraid of her foster Dad and really needed a home with just a mom. She is leash trained, loves car rides and is fairly good with her house training (except when it is cold and rainy and who would expect a California girl to go out in that! Isn’t that what pee-pads are for?). Triscuit does not mind sharing her mamma with another dog or two especially ones near her size

Triscuit now has two lovely Moms, residing in Bellevue, WA

(Adopted May 21/09)
Derby (nka Darby)
Wire-haired Dachshund
Male/neutered/shots current
8 months old
5 lbs

I want a Mommy, oh okay, I will take a Daddy too.  I love being carried around, pretty simple when you are as small as me, but it would be helpful if I learned to walk properly on a leash too.  I am doing alright with that, I am learning potty manners.  I would love to live with another playful doxie, I light up when I see a dog like me, we do know our own kind.  I like to be wherever you are, and don't like being shut out of a room that you are in, but you can find me, at other times happily chewing on a chew or playing a bit with toys.  I love to burrow under the covers with you at nighttime.

I can be barky when strangers come into the house, but I settle alright, and if not, just pick me up, and show me I don't need to protect the house.

Lovely home for Darby with another doxie, residing in Ellensburg, WA
