(Adopted Dec. 14/05)
Helix (nka Mickey)
Toy Poodle
Male
8 weeks old B.D. Sept.23/05
Presently 2 lbs

Everyone is going to fall in love with me, I am as cute as can be, with a BIG personality.  I came into foster care, and made myself at home, I am going to be an awesome lil boy.
Now, the reason I am here, well, the story could be sad, I was born with grade 4-5 luxtating patellas, and I wasn't walking very well...but with the wonders of rescue people who care, I have already got surgery, and let me tell you, I run and move just like any puppy. I will be neutered soon, once Mr. Vet says so, and I will be ready for a new forever home.  Anyone interested in me, please understand, there is always a chance I may need more surgery to correct my knees, this is undetermined at this time, so you will have to make sure you are in a position to be able to do this.
This adorable lil baby has a wonderful new home, and has a Yorkie to play with, residing in Birch Bay, WA

*Darling Tagger crossed to the bridge Dec.23/12 from complications from diabetes, he was adored, and so lucky to have such wonderful years with his family*

When Tigers Mom and Dad saw his picture, they only had one question, when can he join our family...and he did, he now has a great Mom and Dad, and a sweet lil girl TFT who looks like his twin, he is now loved and spoiled, residing in Maple Ridge, B.C. Canada

"The Many Faces of Mario"

(Adopted Dec. 17/05)
Mario (aka Oreo)
Schnoodle (Schnauzer/Poodle)
Male/neutered/shots current
1 year old
15 lbs

Yup you saw me a couple of months ago, I was adopted to a very nice home, but my Mom's health declined and she felt she could not take care of me properly, and Dad worked away from home a lot, so it was best I returned to foster care.  This is no fault of mine, they loved me, said I am an awesome lil boy.  I even know some commands now.  I tend to be shy of dogs, I don't know, but love the resident Schnauzers, I like kids so older kids will be fine.  I came back with a bit of an allergy problem, so I need to be on good quality food.  Other than that I am a great boy, I appear housetrained, and if you leave me, and leave pads out I will use those too....now I just need my forever home...I am playful and fun...
Mario has a wonderful new home, who say he fits in like he always lived there, they adore this imp.  Residing in Bellingham, WA

(Adopted Dec. 17/05)

Sheeba

(Adopted Dec. 17/05)
Dolly
King Charles Cavalier Spaniels
Females/spayed/shots current

If any of you remember, 6 darling Cavaliers came from a puppymill/backyard breeder, in July/05 read their story.  It also explains all the medical that was done for them.
All 6 of the girls found wonderful homes, Dolly and Sheba went to a great home, but this home was not to be forever.  As their Mom is now facing divorce and unable to keep her girls.  So these babies were returned to my rescue to once again find their "forever" home
Dolly and Sheba have to stay together.  Dolly is 7, and other than being very overweight, her health is good.  Sheba is 9 and she is deaf, she relies on Dolly and takes cues from her.

They are loving, curious happy girls, who love their walks.  They are starting to lose weight while in foster care, they adore to sit in your lap while watching TV and enjoy their chewies.
These beautiful girls have a great new home in Portland, Oregon, the new parents say the girls are everything they dreamed of...I could not be happier for these special angels.

(Adopted Dec. 20/05)
Miniature Pinscher
Male/neutered/shots current
10 lbs
13 months old

Rocko is very distrusting of new people right now.  When just in his foster home and with the resident dogs he does great.  He is not reliably potty trained, he does know how to use the pet door, but needs constant reinforcement at this time.  He plays well with all the other dogs.  He sleeps in bed under the covers all night and likes to play with toys and loves to sit on your lap.  He has warmed up wonderfully to the foster Mom's husband.  He has now taken an interest in the cat, but since the cat won't run it doesn't go any further than that.  He enjoys car rides.  We are asking for an adult home only, min pin or very experienced dog owner only.   Well sweet Rocko (now spelled Rocco)is another foster failure, and he is so lucky, he has wonderful doggie pals,  and two wonderful parents, residing in Blaine, WA

(Adopted Dec. 22/05)
Schatzie (nka Nieca)
Dachshund X
Female/spayed/shots current
9 lbs
App. 5 years old

*sweet lil Nieca passed to the bridge Dec.1/12*

Schatzie is a very sweet mellow lil girl, who has had many litters, and poor nutrition, which resulted in losing some teeth, when she had her dental and spaying.  She bonds very easily to her person, and likes to give kisses.  She likes to ride in the car looking out the window and gets along well with all the foster dogs.  She paid no attention to a cat while on a walk, so imagine she has no problems with them.  She is not a fussy eater, she likes to go for walks, and behaves well on a leash.  She sleeps under the covers on a doggie bed or sofa, in true doxie fashion.  She may have some potty issues, but since the resident doxies are not reliable, hard to tell for sure.  She is an absolute dear.  Have not heard her bark, so apartment living should be fine.  She does not appear to have been abused, as she is very friendly and loving, but she was ABSOLUTELY not well cared for.  While in foster care, she needed to be spayed, dental, shots, she had fleas, anal glands full, and she has been bred way TOO many times.  But all of these medical issues have been addressed, she is happy and will be a wonderful companion. She also loves to play with toys, and probably would not mind having a friend to play with.
Adorable Schatzie, has one of the greatest, and loving Mom, a girl could ever want.  Residing in Ferndale, WA

(Adopted Dec. 23/05)
Champ
Boston Terrier X
Male/neutered/shots current
6 months old

Champ is all puppy: an adventurer, an explorer, a chewer of paper and finder of treasures; a cuddler who loves to sleep lying across your neck or curled in a tight ball under the covers. Champ was one of a litter of abandoned puppies and was given to a little girl. He was turned into the shelter because he was discovered NOT to be a pit bull mix. (No-one is sure what mix Champ is but our best guess is Boston terrier and possibly Dachshund.) Champ was terrified at the shelter and would not let anyone near him. Out of the shelter, within 10 minutes, he had become my baby. Champ is learning a lot in foster care that no one seems to have taught him. He is learning to play with other dogs and to play nicely with humans. He is learning to go outside to potty and to come inside when called. He is learning that new situations and new people are OK and are not going to hurt him. He is learning that his person can protect him and he is not on his own.

Champ needs a home that is willing to continue to work on socialization with this little boy. He needs a family that will be patient with him while he learns but will be firm with him as well. Champ will not be placed in a home with young children. He would love to have another dog to play with and learn from. Champ needs a home that has some dog experience and is willing to spend the time to help this boy grow into the awesome dog he can become. If you are that family Champ may be your best Christmas present ever.
That wonderful family was found, two great Moms, and his new sister Luci-Lou, residing in Seattle, WA

(Adopted Dec. 26/05)
Sister
Miniature Schnauzer
Female/spayed/shots current
4 years old
Incredibly chubby

Ok Ok, I know I need to sign up for weight watchers, my foster Mom has me on a diet, and I have lost weight, my former Mom was an elderly lady, who thought feeding me table food was the way to show love, well it showed me happiness, but not love..she also did not know what a groomer was for:

I am a wonderful girl, I have no bad habits, I am rather quiet, I love everyone, just a sweetheart...so if you just keep me on a diet, no table scraps, and let my figure come back, you can give me a lifetime of love, I will really appreciate that....my foster Mom does request no kids, I can get scared easily...so I just need a nice Mom or Dad, both would be wonderful...
Sister has a new Mom and Dad, brother Schnauzer and is doing wonderfully, residing in Maple Valley, WA

(Adopted Dec. 26/05)
*this very special boy who touched everyone's heart who met him, passed to the bridge in his sleep, March 15/10*
Corky
Pekinese
Male/neutered
App. 4 years old

Two heavy chains wrapped around my neck and held me in one place,  the dog house was in front of me, but I could not reach it, I have been sitting here for a long long time, the cold, the rain, and now the snow, beating down on me, freezing me, no love, no warmth, no soft blankets to lie on, just the cold, wet, and damp surrounding me.  My "owner" left for days, and gave me no food, but the kind kind neighbors fed me, and cried for me.  When the owner returned after 4 days, they asked to release me, she said sure "he bores me anyway."  If she took me to the shelter,  it would have been an act of kindness, death would have been an act of kindness.  What did I ever do, to deserve this anguish and pain?  The kind neighbors took me to Furbaby's groomer, her sorrow on seeing me, made her cry...I just laid down on the table, for her to shave my matted coat, a coat that will be glorious, but now soaked, stinky, matted..see my coat

I had been attacked by a dog, and have lost vision in one eye, and my foster Mom, says we will do everything to restore vision in the other, I have dry eye, and no care has ever been given.  I do have to say something though, once I got all cleaned up, I am the SWEETEST and HAPPIEST lil boy, you will ever find.  My tail wags always, and my spirit is so wonderful.  I will be visiting the vet on Monday, Dec. 5, and will know more about my eyes...
If you have a kind heart, and an open spirit, I will fill you with unending love...dry your tears foster Mom, the angels looked after me.
Corky had his vet appointment, as this time, he is blind, he will continue on the eye medication, tacrolimus, and we will hope that maybe some sight will be restored, but will not know for awhile.
Regardless, this baby has no problems mapping his way around, he is doing fantastic, and he is so adored by his foster home...what a wonderful baby he is.
This boy has now learned how to do stairs, he loves to play with toys, other dogs, he learns everything incredibly fast..his foster Mom raves about this fantastic baby. And he is housetrained...so he once lived inside at one time...you will not regret having this boy in your life.

Twas the night before Christmas, when all through the house
Not a creature was stirring, not even a mouse;
The stockings were hung by the chimney with care,
In hopes that St. Nicholas soon would be there;

The children were nestled all snug in their beds,
With no thought of the dog filling their head.
And mamma in her 'kerchief, and I in my cap,
Knew he was cold, but didn't care about that.

When out on the lawn there arose such a clatter,
I sprang from the bed to see what was the matter.
Away to the window I flew like a flash,
Figuring the dog was free and into the trash.

The moon on the breast of the new-fallen snow
Gave the luster of midday to objects below,
When, what to my wondering eyes should appear,
But Santa Claus - his eyes full of tears.

He unchained the dog, once so lively and quick,
Last years Christmas present, now thin and sick.
More rapid than eagles he called the dog's name.
And the dog ran to him, despite all his pain;

"Now, DASHER! Now, DANCER! Now, PRANCER and VIXEN!
On, COMET! On CUPID! On, DONNER and BLITZEN!
To the top of the porch! To the top of the wall!
Let's find this dog a home where he'll be loved by all"

I knew in an instant there would be no gifts this year,
For Santa Claus had made one thing quite clear,
The gift of a dog is not just for the season,
We had gotten the pup for all the wrong reasons.

In our haste to think of giving the kids a gift
There was one important thing that we missed.
A dog should be family, and cared for the same
You don't give a gift, then put it on a chain.

And I heard him exclaim as he rode out of sight,
"You weren't given a gift! You were given a life!"
