Yes an angel was watching over Liberty,
she was released from a puppymill, and if they had known she was pregnant, she
would still be there, to suffer more. And her babies, what fate would they
have had? Would the little girl stay in a cage, to reproduce over and
over. Perhaps the boys would have had an easier chance of being sold, or
they too, might have stayed and lived a life of hell.
Liberty is approximately 4 years old, she is a Cavalier
King Charles Spaniel/Chihuahua. She will be about 8 lbs when she is finished
nursing. Strong chances are the pups Father was a Papillon.
The babies were born April 3 and April 4th/08 (she started at 10 pm, and last
baby born was app. 2 am)

These babies will be available for adoption and ready to be rehomed around June 13/08. I will update weekly pictures, so you can see them grow:-)
April 13/08:
Libbey is an incredible Mom, the puppies are
thriving. Libbey is a shy girl, but she is learning to trust and love
humans. When she is away briefly from her babies, she follows me
everywhere, now completely housetrained, has learned the doggie door. She
is a very sweet and endearing girl. New pictures of puppies, next
week...they look like fat lil sausages. Some tan coloring is starting to
show up. They are happy and chubby. They only have to quietly
squeak, and Mamma is there for them.
April 14/08:
Loretta's eyes have opened..she is looking at the
world through a haze right now. Her brothers, I am sure will open their
eyes any day now.
April 15/08
Nikko has opened his eyes
April 16/08
Ru has opened his eyes. I thought Ru would be the first, cause he always
got lost, everyone could find Mamma, and he would still be crawling around:-)
April 17/08 (2 weeks old)
Isn't Mamma gorgeous:-)

These darling babies continue to thrive, the boys weigh 1.5 lbs and lil Retta is now 1 lb. When they were just over 2 weeks, they already were initiating play with each other, above normal activity for this age. They grow cuter and more fun as each day passes. So cute to watch them mouth and bat at each other, and fall over:-)

The boys are now 1 3/4
lbs and Retta is 1 1/4 lb..continuing to thrive, play and be happy.
The fun will begin, as next week it will be time to introduce them to food,
starting with puppy milk and adding doggie food...oh boy "what a mess that
will be"
I have gotten several requests for Liberty, and it is something I never said, so
I apologize. My preference for Libbey is to be rehomed (when she is ready)
with another dog. She has learned so much by understanding trust by
watching "well adjusted and loved dogs" it would be in her best
interest.

By gosh, cuter as each
day goes by. The weaning process has started, Retta and Nikko have easily
lapped up the puppy formula...hmmm Ru still thinks dinner is on Mom. Heck
no rush he will figure it out and Mom appears in no rush. You would think
she would start wanting a break, but she is just such a good Mom. The boys
are now 2 lbs, and Retta is 1.5 lbs.
Not only watching the puppies grow and become lil doggies, with their own
personalities, the real joy is watching Libbey become a happy doggie. She
adores toys, so much that the puppy room is filled with them, she gathers,
collects and has become a toy hoarder
Libbey is pre-adopted

Bright, alert and happy puppies.
Weaning is going fine, it is slower then I have experienced with other litters
that have come into rescue, but this Mom is slow to push them away.

Such angels, till they
try to chew your toes:-) Nikko is now a little bigger then his brother
Ru. Nikko is 3 lbs, Ru 2 3/4 lbs, and Retta is 2 lbs. I think
Ru looks like a baby Bernese Mountain Dog, what a cute face. (they are all cute)
Nikko is the forerunner, always looking for trouble. Ru was the shyer of
the group, always being last for everything, but he is quickly doing
catch-up. They are eating well, very close to the time of just dry
kibble. Mamma still helps them with a few minutes of nursing occasionally.
They are playing with toys, happily chewing on chews, if Mamma doesn't steal
them away:-)

Wow where did 8 weeks go,
and we are now full fledged lil doggies, with spirits, minds and full of puppy
action. We eat really well, kibble or mixed with some wet food, doesn't
matter. We love our breakfast, little lunch, and big dinner. If
Mamma lets us, we will still attach ourselves, but she usually smacks us.
Mamma loves to play with us, she runs like the wind, catching us, laughing, and
having such a good time. I bet this is the first time in her life, she was
allowed the joy of playing with her babies. She laughs, and runs and runs
and we run and run with her..even when we are naughty, she just shrugs it off
and plays with us again. Retta also loves to play with the resident
Sheltie, Carina, the pups are not too smart, they
don't understand, if they run one way, how Carina knows how to herd.
Adorable, spirited and wonderful lil souls. Big news also this week Mamma
Liberty has been pre-adopted. She gets to live in a wonderful home with
other Cavaliers, where she will be spoiled rotten. I will miss her dearly,
she will always leave her pawprints on my heart.

Wow did we ever have an
exciting week...first both boys are going to soon be living in Victoria, B.C.
(lucky them, such a beautiful place)...and darling Retta she will be adored by
her new family in Munroe...but we are getting ahead of ourselves. We spent
Wednesday at doggie day care, no, we were not in with all the dogs, but we got
to hang out in the front area with Ferdi (I am sure
you have read his story). Ferdi needed some puppies his own age to romp
with, and we sure showed him (smile)...we tired that tiny little boy right
out. But we also got to meet so many people coming and going, and everyone
loving our cuteness. It was an excellent way to help our
socialization. We came home, but our brother Ru stayed with Ferdi for a
couple of days/nights to play with. Poor Mamma, she kept counting noses
when they returned, but they all did fine, and sadly they will be going to their
new homes, so Mamma will have to adjust. Also we had our "BATH"
day, and if we could spell it would be one word we would like not added to our
vocabulary...we did fine, wasn't sure what it was all about.
June 11/08
Well it has been a busy last couple of days, with all the pups now going into
their new homes. As I put away puppy pads, took x- pens down, I felt a
combination of overwhelming sadness and joy. It seemed like these babies
were here always, and now looking at my empty cleaned out puppy room, and not
seeing three gorgeous babies sleeping, playing, peeing or pooping...darn I will
miss them. My happiness is to know they have the chance now of a fantastic
life, so blessed never to endure the sorrow that Libbey did..only know love, joy
and families that care. I thank the families that have adopted the
puppies, very special people.
Last picture of Retta with Carina and Mom (at my home that is:-)
My precious Liberty went to her new home today, June 14/08. I will miss
this sweet lil lady, her eyes always watching, eyes turning from fear to love
and devotion. She was an incredible Mom, and devoted lil friend. My
work is over now for these precious souls...and my door open again to the next
ones who need me.
Have a good life Lady Libbey...I will miss you.
Our story has come to an end, but a new beginning for these 4
sweeties.
Thank you everyone who came to visit, and gifts that were sent especially for
them.
